Summer Solstice Style

Summer is finally here and fashionista Bree stopped by to share ways to spice up your wardrobe this season...

Guest Blogger: Bree from The Urban Umbrella

Hi there!
I am Bree! I am a fashion, beauty and travel enthusiast from Canada!

I’ve always felt that style shouldn’t have to come at cost, you shouldn’t need to have to fork out $300 for a T-shirt, or $800 for a pair of jeans to look and feel “Stylish”!  Style to me is working what you got, and what you can afford! Though I do believe in saving up for the items you really love, I do not believe it is necessary to have a closet full of designer labels to look chic, put-together and sophisticated! That’s why today I am here to share with you all some hot celebrity style’s that you can easily incorporate into your daily lives without breaking the bank!

Rosie's style here is so chic, so simple and so summery - it's the perfect "beach bum" look while still looking put-together!  So, I found items that very closely mimicked the style Rosie is portraying but are a fraction of the cost!
I am a big fan of light jeans, easy light tops and flip flops for summer - Really now, who doesn't love the ease and comfort of that? I basically live in sandals throughout the summer, they are a key component of my summer-style wardrobe because they are not only so comfy & convenient, they also carry a very "boho" vibe.

Jessica is working all the fun, bright summer 2012 trends with this look, and doesn't she just do it perfectly? Bright reds, blues and yellows - oh my! How she is really working this look is by keeping her accessories to a minimum, she chose her path of Colour and rocked it out. I am a big fan of the bright trend this year, it’s fun and loud which is just perfect for a flirty summer look!
I chose a few very similar items here that are really quite similar to Jessica's look but again, like Rosie's outfit - they are all a fraction of the price!
My personal favorite items from the recreated look include the butter yellow purse and the cap toed shoes. Is it wrong to say I like them more than I like Jessica's? Shh, don't tell her!

Taylor Swift is always ladylike, modest and sweet looking - a look I simply adore. She is stylish but effortlessly so, and her look never looks overdone or loud. Her yellow dress is so lovely, as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it and wanted it in my wardrobe - but unlike Taylor, I am no millionaire so spending hundreds on a pretty summer dress is a bit excessive for me! I decided to go on the hunt for a sweet, girly, natural-waist cinched dress for less - and guess what? Yes, I found it.  Unlike Taylor's bright & beautiful canary yellow dress, this dress is a lovely off-mustard shade, which is a bit more subdued. The shapes of the dress share a very similar feminine vibe, a very 1950's retro shape that is practically universally flattering, sweet and yes, even a little sexy!
To make this look even more feminine I thought a sweetly bow adorned belt would be perfect, along with some golden flower-powered earrings and high neutral toned heels

Hope you all enjoyed my guide to celeb style without the celeb budget!

Libra Living Lavishly

"Libra sees little action for the first three weeks this month, then the May 20th Solar Eclipse kicks in, starting a very positive new six month phase of your life. The trine from this eclipse will see your life run a lot more smoothly than it has been so far this year... It will allow for the normally disruptive and unsettling transformations to flow a lot smoother, in fact you may even begin to look forward to more positive changes in your life..."

The stars aligned and the past few weeks have brought about many monumental changes in my life. One in particular involves a big move to a new city. It isn't just any city, but my dream city where I am living in a beautiful apartment with a rooftop view that is to die for and, the best part, empty walls and rooms which means...  it's decorating time!

Prettier Than A Picture

Earring Photo Frame
Jewelry is not only an accessory I use to dress up outfits, it also happens to be a part of my bedroom décor. If you think about it, owning countless accessories only to be seen on occasion with the "perfect outfit" seems so drab. I love displaying my favorite pieces, whether it is necklaces, bracelets, scarves or handbags. Anything fabulous enough to glam up an outfit can also glam up your bedroom. Turning old photo frames into earring holders is how I display my favorite earrings. When it comes to accessories, if you can't see it you might forget it's there!

 Directions

  1. Find an old photo frame, remove the glass and any other contents on the frame
  2. Use paint or any technique, like antiquing, to compliment your room décor
  3. Hot glue strips of ribbon to the back of the frame about 1/4'' apart (The ribbon color and style depends on your preference. I went with a 7/8'' sheer nylon; it is easier to pierce the earrings into sheer ribbon)
  4. Pick out your favorite earrings or ones that match your bedroom ensemble and scatter among the frame
  5. Voila! You now have your very own prettier than a picture earring photo frame!

How do you organize your accessories?
